چکیده

Dictionaries and ontologies are very important resources not only for linguistic research and applications but also for other areas dealing with knowledge. In general, however, they fall short of our expectations. One reason for this under-expectation is that their basic units are not well-established. Dictionary head words have to be words rather than affixes or phrases. The meaning of a (head) word has to be carved into different senses on the basis of objective criteria. In addition, building blocks of ontologies have to be (simple and/or complex) concepts rather than senses.

Lexicon and Ontology Interplay in Senso Comune

Following a fashionable recent trend in the scientific community, computational lexicons are often said to incorporate or even correspond to linguistic ontologies, whose purpose is to describe semantic constructs of language (bound to grammatical units). Linking Korean Words with an Ontology

We have few Korean wordnets which are linked to upper-level ontologies, although the need for such wordnets/ontologies has increased not only in the academic world but also in the industry. We present a method for linking Korean senses with the concepts of SmartSUMO, which uses various language...

Enriching very large ontologies using the WWW

T2O - Recycling Thesauri into a Multilingual Ontology

1.1. Dictionaries vs. Ontologies A Dictionary is a word-oriented view over a complex semantic network of concepts. Traditional dictionaries connect single word entries with associated information, and normally they have a multi-senses structure to deal with ambiguity of words. Ontologies, thesauri and terminologies are focused in concepts and semantic relations between concepts. In order to foc...
